Paving the Way to a Net Zero Future in Social Housing
In today’s landscape, sustainability is the topic that is on everyone’s mind and as the new government confirms that the UK is committed to meeting its Net Zero target by 2050, what does that mean for the social housing sector?
In today’s landscape, sustainability is the topic that is on everyone’s mind and as the new government confirms that the UK is committed to meeting its Net Zero target by 2050, what does that mean for the social housing sector?
Time is slowly running out but there is lots of planning that needs to take place to meet these ambitious but necessary targets – from decarbonising existing homes and reducing the energy we use for heating, to phasing out gas central heating and embracing renewable energy sources. However, with limited budgets due to additional demands to deal with building safety and unhealthy homes along with increased costs and supply chain restraints there isn’t much room for strategic, longer-term asset planning.
Net Zero and what to expect from NHMF Maintenance 2025
The NHMF Maintenance Conference (21st – 22nd January) will address this pressing need and be an informative guide on how to plan and decarbonise existing stock.
With ‘Clarity’ being an overarching theme for NHMF 2025, we have set out to include five of the biggest topics in the sector to focus on. The event will feature sessions showcasing best practices and practical solutions, designed to inspire and guide social landlords in their journey toward Net Zero. These sessions include:
Plenary Session:
- Explore the future of Net Zero in housing, with insights from NHMF’s Swedish Study tour. Exploring their progressive nature in respect of NZC preparedness, the adoption of heat networks and heat pumps/related measures and many wider sustainability agendas
Workshops:
- Transforming Homes: Discover how universities are working with residents in Bristol and Swansea to co-design and implement low-carbon insulation solutions.
- Heat Networks & Ofgem: Prepare for 2025 regulations and hear from Ofgem and leading experts about upcoming standards.
- Data-driven NZC & Embodied Carbon: Learn from Orbit’s data-driven decarbonisation approach, reducing both operational and embodied carbon in retrofits.
With a variety of talks and workshops, there is no better chance to gain essential knowledge and insights from leading practitioners and academics working on Net Zero.
